Why Stasis?
The name “Stasis” was chosen thoughtfully to reflect the essence of our practice. In its simplest form, stasis refers to a state of balance, stability, and equilibrium. In psychology, it may be that achieving stasis is about finding a sense of calm and steadiness amidst life’s changes and challenges.
At Stasis Psychology, we believe that therapy is a space where you can pause, reflect, and regain balance in your life. Whether you’re navigating transitions, facing difficulties, or seeking personal growth, our goal is to help you find your center - a place of equilibrium where you feel grounded and supported.
Josh Kelly is the director of Stasis Psychology and is a registered Psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and a member of the Australian Association of Psychologists. Holding a Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) and a Master of Clinical Psychology, Josh draws from experience in both public and private healthcare settings.
Throughout his career, Josh has worked with clients across the lifespan, from children and adolescents to adults, helping them navigate a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges. His therapeutic style is characterized by warmth and authenticity, creating a safe, supportive environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts and feelings. Understanding that therapy can be a new and sometimes intimidating experience, Josh takes a client-led approach, allowing the process to unfold at a pace that feels right for each individual.
Passionate about fostering self-awareness and emotional understanding, Josh is committed to helping clients of all ages develop a deeper understanding of their emotional experiences. Josh draws from different therapeutic modalities, including schema therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) solution focussed therapy and mindfulness based interventions. His academic background includes a thesis project on empathy, exploring how this critical element of the human experience can be measured and nurtured. Whether working with a child, a teenager, or an adult, Josh strives to ensure that every client feels heard, supported, and empowered in their journey toward personal growth and well-being.
